Osnovan 1957. godine Odlukom Ministarstva poljoprivrede Kraljevine Jugoslavije, Institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad počeo je sa radom kao Poljoprivredna ogledna i kontrolna stanica. Stanica je bila locirana u zgradi sagrađenoj 1938, gde je ostalo sedište Instituta do današnjeg dana.
